The Appleby Legal Scholarship Programme has been established since the inception of the Truman Bodden Law School in the early 1980’s to provide financial assistance to young Caymanians intending to pursue a career as a lawyer. In 2023 it was renamed The Liesl Richter Legal Scholarship Programme in memory of Corporate Partner and past recipient, Liesl Richter.
The Liesl Richter Legal Scholarship provides funding for a law degree and subsequent post-graduate qualifying courses/examinations at the Truman Bodden Law School, or at an approved overseas university and is worth in excess of USD 100,000. The Scholarship covers tuition fees, examination fees and textbook costs. All recipients are also provided with a living allowance of USD 2,400 per month and four weeks’ work experience each summer in one of our Practice Groups; Corporate, Dispute Resolution, Private Client & Trusts and Real Estate.
