Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Liaise with potential clients and attorneys, review potential trust business opportunities and trust referrals and prepare fee proposals
  • Coordinate the client onboarding process in accordance with AGS policies and procedures
  • Conduct risk assessments together with the Compliance Manager and submit client intake documentation for approval by the Business Acceptance Committee
  • Provide day-to-day management and administration of a portfolio of trusts in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and the terms of governing instruments
  • Review trust documents where AGS is engaged as Trustee and ensure statutory and regulatory compliance, overseeing corporate governance and best practices
  • Handle communications with beneficiaries and other persons connected with trusts in a timely and efficient manner
  • Demonstrate an understanding of financial, investment and tax issues as they relate to clients and apply this to the day-to-day administration of cases, coordinating with tax and legal advisors (as necessary)
  • Review client financial statements in a timely and accurate manner, and where applicable complete bookkeeping accurately and in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Ensure client data for Trust engagements in ViewPoint is accurate and current in accordance with AGS policies and procedures
  • Undertake periodic risk and client reviews on a frequency determined by the business
  • Ensure all trust assets are correctly identified, allocated, protected and under full custody and control
  • Follow up to obtain and maintain Know Your Client (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering documentation in accordance with AGS procedures, as well as FATCA and CRS procedures

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ knowledge and experience as a trust officer in the offshore trust and fiduciary services industry within a regulated financial services provider
  • A legal, business or accounting degree
  • Active professional membership with the Society of Trust and Estates Practitioners and full TEP qualification or willingness to undertake the STEP qualifications to become a full TEP
  • An understanding of the principles and practices of trust and company administration, to include funds and SPVs with a proven track record in handling complex fiduciary issues
  • A detailed understanding of different corporate and trust structures used in the offshore trust and fiduciary services industry and strong working knowledge of trust and corporate legislation
  • A proven record in business development and the ability to develop and implement strategies for both existing and prospective clients
  • A broad knowledge of the market in which AGS operates, consequently having the ability to balance client needs and AGS commercial expectations in developing client strategies
  • The ability to recognise and respond to risk situations, in addition having excellent knowledge of anti-money laundering detection and reporting, compliance (KYC) regulations, policies and standards regarding due diligence
  • Knowledge and experience of AML/ATF laws, FATCA and CRS requirements
  • An understanding of the principles of double entry bookkeeping and ability to read, understand and critically review a set of company or trust accounts or other financial reports
  • A sound understanding of the principles of managing financial assets, property and investments
  • A keen attention to detail, good time management skills as well as a high degree of integrity, professionalism and a proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent time management, sound organizational skills and ability to work under time pressure and extended work hours when required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with ViewPoint, iManage, Microsoft Office and AdEx would be an asset
  • DAO and fintech experience would be an asset
