Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare all required financial reporting, including the preparation of monthly financial statements, forecast income statements and month-end accounts as well as the monthly Office Managing Partner (OMP) report, briefing the Cayman/BVI OMP and/or partners as required
- Manage the annual budget process in line with the group timetable (including the preparation of the operating, capital and cash flow budgets)
- Manage accounts payable, fee earners’ aged receivables, vendor reconciliations and cash flow, including cash flow projections
- Manage the annual audit process and the production of the annual financial statements in accordance with the appropriate standards
- Monitor financial performance versus the annual budget and assist non-financial managers with monitoring their budgets as required
- Identify control and procedural inefficiencies, manage change and develop and implement policies and procedures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the finance function while ensuring compliance with financial regulatory requirements and if applicable tax requirements
- Liaise with financial institutions regarding incoming funds and bank account discrepancies, approve electronic bank payments and provide general administration of banking facilities
- Execute the processing of monthly payroll entries along with reconciliation and review of payroll related items
- Supervise junior staff, providing guidance on accounting practices and procedures
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
- Recognised accounting qualification (ACCA/CPA or equivalent) is strongly preferred
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience within a law firm or financial services environment
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills together with strong interpersonal and analytical skills
- Knowledge of the MS Office suite of applications with advanced Excel skills is required. Knowledge of AdEx and iManage would be an asset
- Working knowledge of US GAAP and strong technical knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards
- Demonstrated knowledge in the preparation of financial statements and the supervision of junior staff
- Experience with automated accounting systems
- The ability to use initiative and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines
- Due to the nature of the position, a high degree of integrity, a proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality and the ability to pay attention to detail is essential
Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Starting salary for this position is US$100,000 per annum plus benefits.
